FRL air preparation unit is a set of components used in pneumatics to prepare a working medium of appropriate quality and required pressure, thus extending the service life of a pneumatic system and ensuring the optimum performance of devices powered by compressed air. FRL air preparation units – video transcript
Air preparation units (FRL):
- What do they consist of?
- What are their features?
- And most important, how are they installed?
Let’s watch the video.
Hi, my name is Michał Mróz.
Today, we’re going to deal with pneumatics and more precisely, with air preparation units. To use compressed air, we must clean it first, determine its pressure and in some cases, introduce a lubricant.
That is why, today I will show you 4 different series consisting of a filter-reducer, a lubricator, a pressure gauge and a mounting bracket.
We’re going to start with BIT series unit.
BIT series compressed air preparation unit
To perform the installation correctly, first, we have to check the seals between the elements. Then, insert the assembly plates into the slots in the filter-reducer body. Make sure that the direction of the flow is the same as the direction marked on the body. Insert the mounting screws into the holes in the lubricator and tighten them with extreme care. BIT series has a flow rate in the range between 200 and 1 200 Nl/min. A normal litre per minute is nothing more than a measurement taken in defined conditions, in this case the measurement is taken at an ambient temperature of 20 degrees Celsius and an ambient pressure of 1 bar. The diameter range is between 1/8 and 1/4 inch, and the maximum supply pressure is 13 bar. Now, we screw this additional connection into the pressure gauge. Do it by hand. Don’t use a spanner! Apply some liquid sealant for tightness and correct gauge alignment. To install the mounting bracket, we must unscrew the lock nut first. Put the bracket on and tighten the nut. And here is our complete unit.
Skillar series
Another unit is Skillar series unit which has a port size of up to 2 inches. First, we check the seals between the elements. Then, using the parts from the connection kit, we pre-assemble the unit. Making sure that we keep the flow direction marked on the body, we screw everything together and put the blank plugs in. For this series, the air flow rate can be as high as 20 000 Nl/min and the pressure as high as 15 bar. And now, we install the set of end plates.
We screw the pressure gauge into this additional connection port. We always do it by hand. Apply some liquid sealant for tightness and correct gauge alignment. Finally, we install the mounting bracket. To do it, we remove the adjustment knob, unscrew the lock nut, then put the bracket on, tighten the nut and push the knob down. This is how the finished unit looks like.
Syntesi series
Another unit, we’re going to deal with today, is SYNTESI series unit. We start by checking the seals on the connecting element. Then, we mount it in the filter-reducer. After checking that the flow direction is the same as marked on the body, we press the lubricator in. Now, using four screws, we fix the unit together. The SYNTESi series comes in two control ranges: 0.8 and 0.12 bar. At this step, we mount the connection ports. We screw the pressure gauge by hand, using a liquid sealant. To install the mounting bracket, unscrew the lock nut, put on the bracket and tighten the nut. And here is our finished unit.
Airtac series
And the last series we’re going to talk about today is AirTac series. We start by checking the seals on the connecting element. Paying attention to the flow direction, we fix the elements together. This series comes in sizes up to 1″, can operate at temperatures up to 70°. The temperature is about 20° degrees lower for other series. The air flow rate is about 14 500 Nl/min. The pressure gauge is installed by the manufacturer and does not require any additional operations. To install the mounting bracket, we unscrew the lock nut, put on the bracket and tighten the nut. And this is a complete unit.
That’s all for today. Thanks for watching. Some new videos are coming soon. So for now, check the videos already posted on our channel.
