Loading arm – general information
SGA loading arms are used in industrial systems and loading/unloading systems, for chemicals, fuels and gases. Standard arm length is 3.5 m. Loading arms in different lengths and P-SGA loading arm for food and pharmaceutical applications are also available.
SGA loading arms are custom-engineered according to data in a selection sheet filled out by the customer – contact Tubes International.
SGA loading arm is designed to support a flexible hose assembly thus facilitating the work of the operator. The loading arm consists of segments connected by pins. The number of the segments depends on the size of the arm. Swivel joints allow free rotation. The flexible hose assembly attached to the arm is fitted with an emergency release coupling at the side of the tanker. In the event of an emergency (when the tanker drives away and the hose assembly is still connected) the shear bolts joining both halves of the coupling break and the coupling disconnects. At the same time, the spring valves in both halves of the coupling shut, preventing the loaded/unloaded medium from flowing out. Since the flexible hose assembly is mounted on the loading arm it is not subject to tensile loads.

- hose assembly is not exposed to mechanical damage caused by dragging on the ground (longer life span),
- comfort of handling and faster operations – the operator does not lift the hose assembly – this is of great importance for heavy DN80 or DN100 hose assemblies.
