PTFE process hoses – general information

PTFE process hoses are used for the clean and safe transfer of process fluids in chemical, food and pharmaceutical plants. They meet performance requirements concerning broad chemical resistance, a smooth profile for clean and fast flow, high pressure and vacuum resistance, flexibility and kink resistance.

The most important advantage of process hoses is that they can be lined with uniform PTFE layer along the entire hose length, including the fittings. The PTFE liner tube is extended through the fitting and flared out, using hot-forming, on the sealing face of the fitting. The braid is attached to the outside of the fitting and crimped with a ferrule. Thus, the substance passing through the hose comes into contact only with the completely chemically resistant PTFE, which eliminates the problem of corrosion resistance of the metal fittings. In addition, the inner surface of PTFE-lined fittings is continuous, smooth, without fluid entrapment areas (where bacteria can harbour and grow), ensuring the highest level of hose hygiene.

CORROFLON and BIOFLEX ULTRA hoses are available as complete hose assemblies with fittings, made to individual customer specifications. Numerous finish options (e.g. in rubber cover, silicone or fireproof cover) with many types of fittings. Working pressure up to several tens of bar. Working temperature up to +260°C (depending on braid and cover).

CORROFLON and BIOFLEX ULTRA hoses are available in AS version with antistatic PTFE liner, which prevents electrostatic charge build-up. Meet FDA and USP Class VI hygiene requirements. Optionally manufactured according to ATEX directive for use in potentially explosive atmospheres.

Bioflex Ultra

Smoothbore hose. The patented design provides high flexibility, kink resistance and high flow rates. Available in sizes up to 3” (DN80) with a variety of braid and rubber cover options, with standard or PTFE-lined fittings. Ideal for pharmaceutical and biotechnology applications requiring fast, clean fluid flow in high purity conditions.

Corroflon

Helically corrugated hose, reinforced to provide high flexibility and kink resistance. Available in sizes up to 6” (DN150) with a variety of braid and rubber cover options, with standard or PTFE-lined fittings.

Pharmaline N & X

Smoothbore hose. The patented design provides high flexibility, kink resistance and high flow rates. Available in sizes up to 3″ (DN80) with or without SS braid reinforcement and additional silicone outer cover. Best for replacing silicone hoses to improve compatibility and cleanability.

Corroline +

Smoothbore hose. The patented profile and reinforced construction withstand the most severe physical loads. Available in sizes up to 3” (DN80) with SS braid reinforcement and black EPDM rubber cover. Ideal for chemical and other clean fluid transfer applications in heavy-duty conditions.

PTFE process hoses are also in other groups: chemical hoses (e.g. CORROLINE PLUS), heated hoses.

FAQ – PTFE process hoses

What are the characteristics of PTFE process hoses?2023-07-05T09:27:24+02:00

PTFE process hoses have high chemical resistance, resistance to high pressures and vacuum, good flexibility and kink resistance.

Where are PTFE process hoses used?2023-07-05T09:28:07+02:00

PTFE process hoses are used in applications that require hygienic media transfer.

The construction of hoses with an inside smooth, outside corrugated profile combines the advantages of corrugated (flexibility) and smoothbore hoses (ease of cleaning, laminar flow, higher flow rates).

The end connections are available as flared design (PTFE layer lined on the sealing surface) to ensure full-diameter flow along the entire hose length and eliminate potential ‘dead areas’.

Is it easy to keep PTFE hoses clean?2023-07-05T09:28:54+02:00

The material of the hoses (PTFE) has a low coefficient of friction, “self-cleaning” properties. The SS braid is covered with a smooth, sleek silicone or EPDM cover which also facilitates maintaining external hygiene.
