Can the Twisted coupling for pneumatic pipes and hoses angle 90° with external thread BSPT, type B5 be used with plastic hoses without reinforcing sleeves (B12), and what risks arise if omitted?

Yes . the Twisted coupling for pneumatic pipes and hoses angle 90° with external thread BSPT, type B5 can physically be used with unreinforced plastic hoses, but it is not recommended. The product description explicitly states a locking ring designed for connecting copper pipes and plastic hoses and recommends using reinforcing sleeves (B12) when connecting hoses. Risks if reinforcing sleeves (B12) are omitted: - Hose extrusion or deformation into the coupling under pressure, causing leaks or sudden failure. - Reduced sealing integrity at the ferrule/locking ring, leading to intermittent or continuous leaks. - Lower burst and working-pressure safety margin despite nominal 60 bar rating; unreinforced hoses may fail well below rated pressure. - Potential hose pull-out under axial load or dynamic conditions (vibration, pressure spikes). - Accelerated wear at the connection point, shortening service life and increasing maintenance needs. - Safety hazards to personnel and equipment from pressurized fluid escape. Recommendation: Use B12 reinforcing sleeves with plastic hoses to meet intended safety and performance; if sleeves cannot be used, choose hoses specifically rated and constructed for direct use with this coupling and verify application pressures, dynamic loads, and perform pressure testing.

Is the Twisted coupling for pneumatic pipes and hoses angle 90° with external thread BSPT, type B5 safe to use with plastic hoses without reinforcing sleeves (B12)?

Twisted coupling for pneumatic pipes and hoses angle 90° with external thread BSPT, type B5 is designed for connecting copper pipes and plastic hoses and includes a locking ring. For plastic hoses the description explicitly recommends using reinforcing sleeves (B12). Material (nickel-plated brass) and working pressure (60 bar) indicate robust construction, but without the reinforcing sleeve the hose may not be properly supported at the fitting, risking slippage, leakage or burst under pressure. Therefore it is not considered safe to use Twisted coupling for pneumatic pipes and hoses angle 90° with external thread BSPT, type B5 with plastic hoses without reinforcing sleeves (B12); use of the B12 sleeve is recommended.

Can the Twisted coupling for pneumatic pipes and hoses angle 90° with external thread BSPT, type B5 be used with soft plastic hoses without B12 reinforcement?

Yes. but with caution. Twisted coupling for pneumatic pipes and hoses angle 90° with external thread BSPT, type B5 is designed for connecting copper pipes and plastic hoses and includes a locking ring. The product description explicitly recommends using reinforcing sleeves (B12) when connecting to hoses. Therefore you can physically fit and use the coupling with soft plastic hoses, but to ensure a secure, leakâfree and pressureâsafe joint (working pressure up to 60 bar) you should use the B12 reinforcement sleeves. Without B12 the connection to soft hoses may be prone to deformation, slipping or leakage under pressure or vibration, and may not meet safety/reliability expectations.
