Are Band-It® Standard strap clips, AISI 304 steel, compatible with tape ends that require ear folding for secure fastening?

Yes. Band-It® Standard strap clips, AISI 304 steel are compatible with tape ends that require ear folding. The clips are specifically described as fasteners with so-called "ears" that secure the tape end after bending, and they are made of AISI 304 stainless steel, matching the requirement and function for ear-folded tape fastening.

Do Band-It® Standard strap clips, AISI 304 steel, require special tools to fold the ears for secure tape fastening?

No - Band-It® Standard strap clips, AISI 304 steel, do not require special tools to fold the ears. The clips are designed so the ears can be bent over the tape by hand or with common hand tools (e.g., pliers) to create a secure fastening. For consistent, tight, and repeatable results in production or heavy-duty applications, a simple crimping tool or bench-mounted folder can be used, but it is not mandatory for basic secure fastening.

Can Band-It® Standard strap clips, AISI 304 steel, be used with pre-notched tape ends for ear folding?

Yes. Band-It® Standard strap clips, AISI 304 steel, can be used with pre-notched (pre-slotted) tape ends designed for ear folding. The clips are specifically made to secure tape ends after bending into âears,â and AISI 304 stainless steel provides suitable strength and corrosion resistance for typical strapping applications. For reliable results: - Ensure the tape width and thickness match the clipâs specifications. - Use properly pre-notched tape ends sized to fit the clip so the ears form and seat correctly. - Fold the ears cleanly and uniformly to engage the clip fully; improper folding can reduce joint strength. - Verify compatibility for the intended environment (AISI 304 is corrosion-resistant but may not suit highly corrosive or marine conditions). When tape and clip dimensions and materials are matched and correct ear-folding technique is used, Band-It® Standard strap clips, AISI 304 steel, will securely fasten pre-notched tape ends.
