Is the Single braided steel hydraulic hose EN 857 1SC/EN45545-2 suitable for continuous use at +100°C and what precautions apply for air service above 17 bar?

Single braided steel hydraulic hose EN 857 1SC/EN45545-2 Format is rated for continuous operation in the range -40°C to +100°C (with short-term use up to +125°C). However, for water and air media the manufacturer limits the maximum operating temperature to +70°C. Therefore: for continuous use at +100°C the hose is outside the recommended limit for air and water service and should not be used continuously at that temperature for those media. Regarding air service above 17 bar: when the hose is used with compressed air at pressures exceeding 17 bar, micro-perforation of the outer layer is required. This precaution reduces the risk of outer-layer delamination and trapped air pockets that could lead to hazardous failure modes. Follow supplier instructions for correct micro-perforation technique and verify compatibility with the specific application, temperature and pressure conditions.

Does the Single braided steel hydraulic hose EN 857 1SC/EN45545-2 require special handling or limits when used in water service at +70°C?

Single braided steel hydraulic hose EN 857 1SC/EN45545-2 does not require special handling beyond its stated limits when used in water service at +70°C. The hoseâs operating temperature range allows water and air service up to a maximum operating temperature of +70°C. Ensure system pressure stays within the hoseâs rated working pressure and follow normal installation practices (avoid excessive bending, abrasion, torsion, or crushing). Do not exceed the specified +70°C limit for water service; temporary higher temperatures are for other media and should not be applied to water service. Regular inspections for wear, leakage or heat-related deterioration are recommended.

Can Single braided steel hydraulic hose EN 857 1SC/EN45545-2 be used continuously below -40°C and what limits apply at low temperatures?

Single braided steel hydraulic hose EN 857 1SC/EN45545-2 is specified with an operating temperature range of -40°C to +100°C (temporary up to +125°C). That means the manufacturer rates continuous use down to â40°C. Continuous operation below â40°C is outside the declared operating range and therefore not recommended without explicit manufacturer approval or additional testing. Practical limits and considerations at low temperatures: - Below â40°C materials (inner rubber, outer flameâretardant rubber) can stiffen, lose flexibility and become more brittle, increasing risk of cracking, abrasion and failure under flexing or pressure cycles. - Seals, fittings and hose assembly integrity may be compromised at temperatures below the rated minimum; leakage and sudden failure risk rises. - Hydraulic fluid properties change (viscosity increases), which can raise pressure peaks on startâup and during operation; ensure fluid selection and system design accommodate very low temperatures. - For air or water applications note the separate maximum temperature limits (+70°C for water and air); these do not extend lowâtemperature capability. - Any use below â40°C requires manufacturer confirmation, qualification testing (flexibility, burst, impulse, material embrittlement, compatibility with the chosen fluid) and possibly modified materials or special assembly procedures. Conclusion: Do not use Single braided steel hydraulic hose EN 857 1SC/EN45545-2 continuously below â40°C unless the hose manufacturer explicitly approves it based on tested modifications or provides lowerâtemperature ratings.
