Is FLAMEX PS safety spiral suitable for vertical cable trays and does it maintain fire retardant properties at high temperatures?

Yes . FLAMEX PS safety spiral is suitable for vertical cable trays and retains fire-retardant properties at elevated temperatures. Designed as a protective spiral wrap for cables, FLAMEX PS safety spiral can be installed on vertical runs and stacked cable arrangements without compromising mechanical protection or cable routing. Its construction includes fire-retardant materials that resist ignition and slow flame spread, ensuring continued protection along vertical pathways where fire propagation risk is higher. In high-temperature environments FLAMEX PS safety spiral maintains its fire-retardant characteristics: it is formulated to withstand elevated ambient and flame temperatures without rapid degradation, helping to preserve cable integrity and reduce the likelihood of fire spread. While no cable protection can make systems impervious, using FLAMEX PS safety spiral on vertical trays improves overall fire safety performance and compliance potential with fire-safety requirements. For specific temperature limits, test standards and installation guidance, refer to the product datasheet and manufacturer recommendations.

Can FLAMEX PS safety spiral be used in outdoor installations exposed to UV, moisture, and temperature changes?

Yes. FLAMEX PS safety spiral is suitable for outdoor installations when exposed to UV, moisture, and temperature fluctuations. Its materials are UV-stabilized to resist degradation from sunlight, and the construction provides reliable moisture resistance to prevent water ingress and corrosion of enclosed cables. The spiral design allows thermal expansion and contraction without compromising mechanical protection or flexibility, maintaining performance across typical outdoor temperature ranges. For extreme environments or prolonged direct sunlight at high temperatures, follow FLAMEX PS safety spiral manufacturer guidelines regarding maximum temperature limits and recommended installation practices to ensure long-term durability and compliance.

Does FLAMEX PS safety spiral comply with EN 45545 for rail vehicle fire safety?

Based on the FLAMEX PS safety spiral description, FLAMEX PS safety spiral is designed specifically for applications requiring enhanced fire performance and low smoke/toxic emissions. The product description indicates fire-retardant materials, self-extinguishing behavior, and reduced smoke generationâfeatures aligned with EN 45545 requirements for railway vehicle materials. However, compliance with EN 45545 (including specific hazard levels HL1âHL3 and applicable EN 45545-2 criteria such as R1âR26 requirements) depends on tested and certified results for the exact material formulation, thickness, application, and hazard level relevant to the vehicle area. Therefore, FLAMEX PS safety spiral can meet EN 45545 when it has been tested and certified against the applicable EN 45545-2 performance criteria for the intended use and assigned hazard level. If the product documentation or manufacturerâs certificate explicitly states EN 45545 compliance and provides the test report or certificate for the relevant hazard level (HL1/HL2/HL3) and requirement sets, then FLAMEX PS safety spiral complies. Without such certified test evidence for the specific application and hazard level, compliance cannot be assumed solely from the product description.
