Is the ORFS adapter with stainless steel GZ BSP, type EVGE-B (AISI 316, 60° cone sealing) compatible with standard BSPP threads and what torque is recommended?

The ORFS adapter with stainless steel GZ BSP, type EVGE-B (AISI 316, 60° cone sealing) is not directly compatible with standard BSPP (parallel) threads. EVGE-B uses a BSP tapered (BSPT/GZ) external thread combined with a 60° cone metal-to-metal sealing face; BSPP threads require a different sealing method (typically an O-ring or flat face) and have parallel threads, so mating a BSPP female will not achieve proper thread engagement or reliable sealing. For proper connection, use a matching BSP tapered (GZ/BSPT) female port designed for 60° cone sealing or an adapter specifically converting BSPP to BSPT with the correct 60° cone contact surface. Recommended torque: for AISI 316 stainless steel ORFS/BSPT 60° cone fittings, follow manufacturer torque charts when available. Typical recommended installation torques for stainless steel BSPT fittings of similar size are approximately: - 1/4" BSPT: 20â30 Nm - 3/8" BSPT: 30â45 Nm - 1/2" BSPT: 45â60 Nm - 3/4" BSPT: 60â90 Nm - 1" BSPT: 90â120 Nm These values are approximate; always confirm with the adapter manufacturer or supplier and use proper thread sealant where specified. Over-torquing can damage the 60° cone seat and stainless threads; under-torquing may cause leaks.

Can ORFS adapter with stainless steel GZ BSP, type EVGE-B (AISI 316, 60° cone) be used in high-pressure hydraulic systems?

Yes - the ORFS adapter with stainless steel GZ BSP, type EVGE-B (AISI 316, 60° cone) can be used in high-pressure hydraulic systems, provided system pressure and application conditions fall within the adapterâs rated specifications. AISI 316 stainless steel offers excellent corrosion resistance and good strength for demanding environments. The 60° cone sealing (ORFS-to-BSP mating) provides reliable metal-to-metal contact, but ensure compatibility of mating threads and faces, proper torque during assembly, and use of correct sealing elements if required. Verify the adapterâs maximum working pressure, temperature limits, and any certification requirements for your specific hydraulic system before installation.

Can ORFS adapter with stainless steel GZ BSP, type EVGE-B (AISI 316, 60° cone) be used with hydraulic fluids other than mineral oil?

Yes. the ORFS adapter with stainless steel GZ BSP, type EVGE-B (AISI 316, 60° cone) can be used with hydraulic fluids other than mineral oil, but with qualifications. Compatibility points: - Material resistance: AISI 316 stainless steel offers good corrosion resistance and broad chemical compatibility with many hydraulic fluids (e.g., water-glycol, synthetic esters, phosphate esters, some biodegradable fluids). It resists most dilute acids, alkalis and many organic solvents better than carbon steels. - Sealing design: The EVGE-B uses a 60° cone metal-to-metal sealing surface (ORFS-style). Metal cone seals rely on mating material hardness and surface condition; they do not provide chemical sealing by themselves. Fluid compatibility therefore also depends on the seal elements (O-rings, back-up rings) used in the mating components and hoses. If polymer seals in the system are incompatible with a given fluid, leaks or degradation may occur. - Pressure and temperature: Verify the fluidâs operating pressure, temperature range and the adapterâs rated limits. Some synthetic or water-based fluids have different viscosity and lubrication properties that affect seal life and component wear. - Corrosion and contamination: Certain fluids (e.g., phosphate esters, some biodegradable fluids) can be more corrosive to system components or require strict contamination control and different filter materials. Recommendations: 1. Check compatibility charts from the fluid and seal manufacturers to ensure seals and hoses in the system match the chosen fluid. 2. Confirm EVGE-Bâs pressure and temperature ratings with the supplier for the intended fluid and operating conditions. 3. For phosphate ester or highly aggressive fluids, consult the adapter supplierâAISI 316 is resistant but system-wide material compatibility must be verified. 4. If uncertain, test a prototype assembly under real operating conditions. Conclusion: The ORFS adapter with stainless steel GZ BSP, type EVGE-B is generally suitable for many hydraulic fluids beyond mineral oil due to AISI 316 construction, but full compatibility depends on seal materials, system components, and operating conditionsâverify seals and manufacturer data before use.
