CAMLOCK couplings

CAMLOCK / SAFLOK® Couplings

CAMLOCK couplings – a universal and reliable solution for the quick connection of hoses.

The name CAMLOCK comes from the characteristic cam-locking system. Since no specialist tools are required to operate them, they have found applications in many industries and beyond – from large chemical plants to domestic installations.

The couplings are manufactured in accordance with the American military standard MIL-C-27487 (now A-A-59326) and the European standard EN 14420-7 (formerly DIN 2828). Since the two standards do not fully overlap, particular attention should be paid to couplings in sizes ½”, 5″, 6″ and 8″, as there is a chance that couplings from different manufacturers will not be compatible with each other. In such a situation, we suggest using them as a set (coupler and adapter) from the same manufacturer.

Thanks to their versatility and simple design, CAMLOCK couplings are used, among other applications, in low-pressure transfer of liquids (such as fuels or chemicals), bulk materials (powders, granulates) and food substances, despite the fact that they are not a solution dedicated to this type of application.

In more critical applications, in order to avoid accidental opening of CAMLOCK couplings, a special variant such as SAFLOK® couplings can be used. Thanks to a special, patented handle design with a latch system, they protect the coupling against accidental opening without the need for any additional accessories. When the handles are closed, the latches lock automatically. Unlocking when opening requires pulling the latches back. SAFLOK® couplings are compatible with other CAMLOCK couplings manufactured in accordance with the MIL-C-27487 standard.

Rubber Expansion Joints

Expansion joints – flexible connections for demanding steelmaking and metallurgical installations.

In industrial installations used in the steel and metallurgical industry, it is extremely important to ensure the reliability of pipelines that operate under conditions of high temperature, vibration, pressure and sudden changes in load. In such applications, a key role is played by expansion joints, which protect the installation from damage and extend its service life.

Expansion joints consist of a flexible bellows made of high-quality elastomers, reinforced with synthetic or steel cord, and connecting elements – most often steel flanges, enabling a secure and tight connection to the pipeline.

The role of expansion joints in steelmaking installations:

  • compensation for thermal expansion of pipelines resulting from temperature changes,
  • correction of misalignment and installation deviations,
  • isolation of vibrations originating from pumps, turbines, motors and fans,
  • noise damping and absorption of the energy of hydraulic shocks,
  • protection of the structure and installation elements from excessive loads.

Expansion joints are used in pipelines transporting air, cooling water, oils, technical gases, wastewater and chemical media. They are used with pumps, compressors, fans, furnaces, turbines and other equipment operating under conditions of high temperature and vibration.

Thanks to their design, expansion joints increase the reliability and durability of installations, minimising the risk of failures and costly downtime in production.
